Dear Fannie Family

Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year! We anticipate it being a very productive one for all on campus.

We have new staff and students on board and we welcome them with open arms to the family. They’re just in time to move across the parking lot into our new facility, with all the amenities it will bring.

Space will no longer be at a premium–the new building has about 95,000 square feet for the 500 plus student body and staff. Imagine our Black History Program, Awards Day Celebrations, and Promotional Exercises held in our new facility, with a stage and sound system; the semi-annual Book Fair held in our new state-of-the-art media center; a band room that doesn’t have to do double duty as the multi-purpose room!

As the contractors go through their “punch list” to ready the site for us, business goes on as usual in our classrooms–in the modular buildings we’ve called home since September 2007. Inside those four walls, we are busy molding our Warriors with the PBS (Positive Behavior Support) model employed on campus. We expect all students to be prompt, polite, productive, and prepared in all that they do. Our expectations for success are moving higher up the scale. Collaboration of parents and community will help to make us a stronger school.

The best schools are those that have strong parental commitment to them. Our mission statement states that our goal is “to achieve the highest academic success through collaboration of staff, parents, and community.” With more than 300 individual families on campus, we are looking forward to standing room only for report card conferences, LEAP Night, High School Night, PTA meetings, etc.

Our success as a learning community hinges on the entire Fannie family–students, staff, parents, and the community–coming together as one to make this one of the city’s best educational institutions. We can do it!
