Mrs. Kelly S. Batiste

We are in unchartered times. I ask that everyone remain vigilant and safe during the next few weeks.

As you know, we were instructed by Governor Edwards that all schools would be closed beginning Monday, March 16, 2020. That gave the staff a few hours to pull together lessons that can keep our students learning for the first week or so–all this while maintaining their classes. Paraprofessionals reproduced take-home lessons (instructional packets) while teachers continued to teach. This was collaboration at its finest! Parents of absent students were informed and most came to the campus to pick up their scholars’ assignments. Thank you, parents.

Prepare for students to be out of school for at least four (4) weeks. This is being done to halt the spread of this deadly virus. It is imperative that our students not lose any educational gains they have made the three completed quarters of this academic year. Encourage, no insist, that they complete all assignments. Check your smart device daily to view any additional lessons that may have been sent. Students will be expected to bring the completed assignments back to school when we return, hopefully, Monday, April 13, 2020.

Please be aware that your child’s classroom teacher will be in contact with you through Class Dojo. They will provide additional educational resources as we access them. I will also use your e-mail address to provide you with the most up-to-date information as it comes from our board, C.L.A.S.S. and that of New Orleans Public Schools. Do we have your correct e-mail? Reach out for assistance if you need help or have questions. Updated e-mails or questions can be addressed to

I will answer this e-mail.

If you are in need of breakfast and lunch meals for your child(ren)–Monday through Friday–please see the post on this website for sites all over the city providing meals for children 18 years and under. Children do not have to be present. An adult may pick up meals for kids under their care. This is an update from my previous info sent regarding meals. May I suggest you visit the following websites for additional information:
