Since our first 8th grade class in 2009-2010, our closing activities have always been memorable. Dinners, luncheons, picnics, volunteer days, career days, field trips, etc. have always resulted in a memorable last week or two for our retiring Warriors. However, this year would be vastly different!

Dean Daigle, the school’s Administration, and our ultimate event planner, Mrs. LeBlanc, could not let our 8th graders leave without some type of closure. So, in keeping the social distancing, a Promotional Parade was planned through the school’s back parking lot.

The invite went out and out 8th graders and their families lined up on Bullard to ride through the campus one last time as students. Friday, May 15th at 10:00 am was the starting time for what was quite a memorable and different occasion. Principal Batiste was at the back gate, radioing Dean Sisco the name of each student as they drove up. They proceeded slowly to the back of the lot, where staff greeted them with cheers, signs, and balloons as Dean Sisco announced them to the cheering crowd. Upon stopping, they were handed the “Quarantine Goodies” from Ms. Gardner or Ms. T. Batiste. “Pomp and Circumstance” blared over the portable speaker. There were more than a few tears shed.

We were even featured on the local news! Wow, what a finish!

Best of luck to our “Quarantine Class!”
